Please welcome the star of the show, the "It's Okay To Say Gay" t-shirt, brought to you by the state of Florida! You know, there's something we've noticed lately. We're living in a world where people are all about tolerance and acceptance, but sometimes, you have the haters trying to take that away.
We have no problem saying "snowflake" or "avocado toast," but when it comes to a simple word like "gay," suddenly, it's like we're tiptoeing through a minefield. And then to make matters worse, there is a state law in Florida, that some unclever politican dubbed "Don't Say Gay" signed by none other than Bozo the Clown, oops, I meant Governor Ron DeSantis himself. It states that classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity is a big no-no. Apparently, the idea of teaching straight identity is all right, but teaching about another sexual identity is "inappropriate." Oh, Florida, you never fail to provide the comedy gold. No wonder why the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College is located in your state. That's where the politicians go to study!
Now, some folks argue that this law is about parents having the right to decide when and how to approach LGBTQ topics with their kids. And hey, we respect parental rights, but we also believe in the power of education and open-mindedness. So, while the lawmakers debate this, we're here to remind everyone that words are just words, and understanding comes from knowledge, not ignorance.
Whether you're a teacher caught in the crossfire of this stupid law or a student yearning for a more open discussion, let this t-shirt be your voice!
